Character design

Imagine your favorite movie, comic or video game without its protagonist. It would be the same? No, right? The point is that a character is more than just a visual representation, it is the core from which a story develops. The art of creating characters, therefore, is also the art of storytelling.

In this course you will learn the tools to create and shape your own characters in an interesting way. We will analyze what are the main elements that make up a good character and we will put into practice the creative process of this.

During the course basic notions of drawing, anatomy and composition will be taught. We will practice the sketch technique as an expressive method to shape our imagination and we will see how the most basic shapes are the starting point for any good character creation. Once we have the bases, we can work on expressions, costumes, styles, etc. Also, finally, we will make a brief introduction to color and we will see how it can help us to give life to our characters and reinforce their characteristic features.

The course is designed for students of all levels.
